The 2011 Mawson Lakes Regatta will be held on Saturday 15 October 2011. The event will be held on the beautiful waters of Sir Douglas Mawson Lake which is located at Mawson Lakes.

The Regatta will be held on the one day and will comprise of 10 races. The best 8 races will be selected. Boats must complete 8 races to qualify.

Boats will be divided into 4 Classes: Class 1 = Mawson Lakes 45, Class 2 =  IOM, Class 3 = Marblehead, Class 4 = Others.

Prize money will be distributed between the Classes in a First, Second and Third configuration. There will also be a prize for First Overall.

Entry fee for the event is $20 if paid prior to the event. If payment is made on the day the Entry Fee will be $30.

Event Criteria
  • The event will take the form of a series of a maximum of 12 races over a single course on Sir Douglas Mawson Lake at Mawson Lakes. Over the course of the events a handicap will develop based on time over the distance travelled. The handicap will be adjusted as the boat progresses though the events with the final handicap being allocated on completion of the last event.
  • All boats will start from a scratch time and their finishing times recorded as they each cross the line. Aggregate time will be used to determine handicap and final placings for their handicap.
  • The maximum number of starters will be determined by frequency with the first registrant for that frequency having priority.
  • At the end of the day the number of qualifying races will be determined. Then the slowest times over the qualifying races will be eliminated for each participant. The handicapping system will allocate the points for each participate in each race and the overall positions determined from that total.
  • All boats must have a unique sail number, where there is a duplication an additional number will be added to make it unique
  • Open to all monohull model yachts, with the exception of 10 Rater and A Class.
  • Entry fee will be $20.00. Payment by Cheque, Paypal (Credit Card) or Cash.
  • Those with 36 MHz FM and 29 Mhz AM sets required to have at least three sets of crystals. 27 Mhz AM sets will not be permitted. Please contact us for more info.
  • MLMYC simplified sailing rules will apply, any penalties awarded by the officer of the day will be time.
  • A spirit of participation policy will be published, no protest will be heard.
  • Where participants who are members of a model sailing club and volunteer, and are allocated tasks during the event, their entry fee will be refunded.
  • The Mawson Lakes Regatta will be a ALCOHOL FREE event.
